Engaged couple in Vail Village, Colorado

People often say that photos are a luxury, not a necessity. However, when faced with the urgency of evacuating for a natural disaster, the very first thing people often grab is their treasured photo albums. Photographs have a unique ability to encapsulate cherished memories and preserve the fleeting beauty of life. At Rebecca Sloan Photography, we are dedicated to capturing the light, color, and beauty of your love story against the backdrop of the world's most stunning landscapes. Our goal is to reflect the divine love that binds you and the unique story that you both share, allowing you to showcase your love to the world and treasure these captured memories for a lifetime.

At Rebecca Sloan Photography, we value the importance of creating a comfortable and relaxed environment during our sessions. Your choice of Spotify Playlist during the session allows you to set the tone and atmosphere that best suits your individual style and personality. Whether you prefer soothing acoustic melodies or upbeat tunes to energize the shoot, we encourage you to curate a playlist that resonates with you, enhancing the overall experience and resulting in authentic, heartfelt photographs.

Engagement photos hold a special place in Rebecca Sloan’s heart. It's a time for genuine connections and capturing those unposed, in-between moments that speak volumes. While we'll certainly capture some posed photos, it's the natural interactions and the energy between you as a couple that truly shine through. Whether you envision a vibrant urban setting or a serene mountain backdrop, our priority is to portray your unique connection and spirit.

We encourage spontaneity and bringing your distinct personalities to the session. Breaking down barriers and revealing your authentic selves is our aim, so that the resulting photos exude genuine emotion and everlasting nostalgia. We want these images to serve as a timeless reflection of your love, evoking the same warmth and sentiment even decades down the line.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To choose a location for the shoot, what should I consider?

We can discuss this further during our consultation call. I’m definitely receptive to hearing ideas and suggestions you may have. Additionally, I have access to a variety of locations within a 45-minute radius of Denver that are suitable for most sessions. Moreover, I also offer photo shoots in picturesque mountain settings like Vail, Breckenridge, Buena Vista, and Rocky Mountain National Park, albeit for an additional fee. This applies to locations further afield in Utah and Wyoming - get creative!

Best time of day for photos?

Indoor lighting is generally at its best within two hours of solar noon, varying based on the orientation of the windows. Meanwhile, outdoor lighting tends to be most flattering right after sunrise or within two hours before sunset, though this may vary depending on the extent of shade coverage and season. For mountain shoots, the later hours of the afternoon and evenings tend to offer the most favorable temperatures and lighting conditions. When it comes to outdoor urban shoots, both mornings and evenings can provide excellent lighting. Additionally, the use of flash can effectively compensate for any constraints posed by limited or harsh lighting, ensuring quality results regardless of the conditions.

Can I get my deposit back?

I'll only cancel if there's an unexpected emergency. If we need to reschedule, the credit will be used for the new appointment. Thanks for understanding.

What are my payment options?

I require a 25% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to secure your session. Following our session, I will promptly send you a Square invoice for the remaining balance. Payment can be conveniently made via credit or debit card, ACH transfer, or in person with cash, check or Venmo.

Do I need to pay for the digital files?

No, my pricing structure is inclusive, which means that the photoshoot fee covers both the session and the digital images. Unlike some photographers who provide a low initial shoot cost but then charge for additional photo packages and digital files, my approach ensures transparency and simplicity for my clients.

How long for photo delivery?

Twenty-one days after the first regular business day after your photoshoot (so if the photoshoot is on a Saturday, the photos would be ready three weeks from that following Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday). Please note that the editing process is quite creative and can vary in duration. Consequently, I kindly request that you refrain from inquiring about updates unless the full 21 days have elapsed. If you require your photos sooner, I do offer an expedite fee for $150 to prioritize the editing and deliver the photos within three business days.

How many photos will I get?

It all comes down to the specific package you decide to go for. The details regarding this can easily be found within the package information provided at the time of booking.

Do I get a phone consultation?

I am pleased to offer phone consultations for all sessions lasting longer than one hour, as well as for ongoing, monthly, or quarterly retainers. This service allows us to discuss your specific needs and preferences in greater detail, ensuring that I can tailor my photography to perfectly suit your requirements.

What if there’s bad weather or I need to cancel?

Colorado weather is well-known for its unpredictability, and I want you to know that I've got your back! If a blizzard, high winds, temperatures below 25 degrees, or any other winter-related conditions make it impossible to safely conduct a photoshoot, I am more than willing to reschedule. The same goes for lightning and hailstorms during the summer. In some cases, a rain delay might be all we need to work around the weather. Your comfort and safety are my priorities, so don't hesitate to reach out if weather becomes an issue!

I understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected curveballs, so I'm flexible when it comes to rescheduling. However, if a reschedule occurs within one week or less of the photoshoot, the full photo package fee will be applied. Additionally, if a shoot is canceled and not rescheduled, there is a possibility of losing the deposit.

What if I'm not happy with my photos?

Photography is a deeply personal and subjective art form. Before booking a photoshoot, I encourage you to take the time to thoroughly explore my unique photography style on my website. It's important to ensure that my approach resonates with your vision and expectations.

Can I have the original, raw, unedited images?

At Rebecca Sloan Photography, I do not offer unedited, raw images for purchase. My photography services include the editing and enhancement of images to ensure the highest quality and adherence to my artistic vision. If you have specific concerns or requests regarding the editing of your images, please feel free to discuss them with me, and I will do my best to accommodate your needs within the scope of our standard editing process. Thank you for understanding.

How far in advance should I schedule a session?

I suggest considering booking your session 1-2 months in advance to secure your preferred date and time. It's always best to plan ahead to ensure we can accommodate your schedule and make your experience with me as seamless as possible.

Where do I change outfits?

If you're inside, feel free to take advantage of the restroom or changing stalls. If we're shooting outdoors, you might need to change in your vehicle, the provided 4Runner, or find a nearby restroom for a quick change. It's simply part of the adventure when we're capturing moments in unique outdoor settings.

Can I bring a friend or loved one?

I fully understand and appreciate the profound importance of significant life milestones like marriage proposals and elopements. I acknowledge that these moments often call for the presence and support of cherished family members, friends, or loved ones. Whether it's seeking moral support, seeking a trusted second opinion, or simply desiring to share in the joyous experience, I wholeheartedly welcome my clients to bring along anyone they believe will enrich and elevate their photography session. My unwavering priority is to cultivate a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for every couple, enabling them to express their true selves and confidently capture their unique essence and love story.

What about my dogs?

I love dogs! Dogs are undeniably an integral part of the family unit, bringing boundless joy, unconditional love, and an unwavering companionship that enriches every aspect of our lives. It is possible for clients to bring their dogs to the photoshoot, provided that the venue or park permits it. However, it’s essential to note that working with dogs can sometimes pose challenges in obtaining the desired shots. In the event that the dogs become difficult after a few photos, it’s important to have a plan in place for managing them. This may involve having someone available to supervise the dogs or arranging for a designated area for them to rest while we continue the photoshoot. It's crucial to discuss and strategize beforehand how we will handle any potential challenges that may arise with the dogs during the photoshoot..

What camera do you have?

I primarily shoot with a Canon EOS R6 Mark II and a Canon EOS R5, using a versatile range of lenses including a 15-35 mm, a 24-70 mm, a 50 mm prime, and a 70-200 telephoto. Additionally, I have a variety of on and off-camera flash options to maximize lighting control for each unique shot.

Bonus Polaroid photos are available for select photoshoots!

Do you go outside of the Denver area for photo sessions?

I am happy to accommodate sessions in most locations, and I do require a travel fee for sessions outside of a 45-minute radius of Denver for all sessions lasting 90 minutes or longer. Sessions under an hour are Denver-area only. Specifics regarding travel fees and logistics can be discussed during your consultation.

How will I get my photos?

I will send you a link via email to access a digital gallery containing your photos. From there, you can not only download the images but also browse through various printing, gallery and framing options available to you. All the photos will be conveniently stored in JPEG format for easy access. Please remember to check your spam folder as well, just in case the email ends up there.

How long have you been taking photos?

I first discovered my love for photography during my high school years in 2004 while exploring the nation and coming across extraordinary landscapes. This newfound passion sparked a deep desire to delve further into the art of photography, leading me to pursue photography studies in college and collaborate with esteemed wedding photographers. Simultaneously, I eagerly captured moments at social gatherings with my first digital camera, a Canon Rebel, and honed my skills as an associate editor for the campus magazine. During the summers, I worked as a media specialist and camp photographer for adventure sports camps for kids. As my career progressed, I eagerly took on additional photography projects for my employers in the years following my college graduation. In 2018, I found myself captivated by the entrepreneurial spirit and discovered a deep passion for the art of editing. Fueled by this newfound enthusiasm, I embarked on a journey that led me to establish Rebecca Sloan Creative in 2019, marking the beginning of an exciting and fulfilling venture. Eventually, I transitioned into full-time dedication in early 2021, steadfastly navigating the challenges brought about by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
